Update *gasp!*

Wow.

Apparently I haven't updated this in 22 weeks.  Ever since my uncle passed away. :(

Apologies for the neglect to this journal.  I post more on Xanga than any other.  I usually just copy/paste to here or my MySpace blog.

Quick update:

-- Trey and I are still together, and we will have been dating a year near the end of October.
-- I'm almost caught up with homework, I think.
-- I am in love with my apartment still . . . even though they had to remove the garbage disposal cause it broke.  :(
-- My fingers hurt from stitching projects in my fiber design class.
-- I absolutely have no clue what to get Trey for his birthday.  :(
-- I don't get to play WoW as much as I would like because of school/classes/work.
-- I got over a mental block in one of my graphic design classes.
-- I'm going to New York with the art department in December.  It will be my first time ever flying and being north of the Mason-Dixon line.

That is all for now.  Back to stitching.  I'll post a pic later this week of the finished piece.

Michael Joseph Smith, may you rest in peace.

feeling: sad sad

My uncle passed away last night, after they said earlier in the day he had 3 weeks- 3 months to live.  His girlfriend was with him, and he slipped away while she was there.  He doesn't have to suffer any longer.

It's gonna be tough.  Granny *Daddy's mom* is having to bury a son.  She already buried her husband two years before I was born.

I haven't felt this upset since I lost my grandmother in the mid 90s.  Most of Momma's family has already passed.  Luckily, I was really young for most, save for my MeMe and PawPaw.  I remember their funerals.

Just so much to take in right now.  It's not fair, but then again, when is life really fair?  I shouldn't be so negative, but it hurts.

Visitation is tomorrow night, with the funeral being Thursday.  I'm leaving in the morning to go home, and I should be coming back Thursday night or Friday sometime.

All I ask is for those that read this to keep my dad and his family in your prayers.  They're gonna need all they can get.

Thanks and God bless.

*note- for those who don't know, about a month and a half ago, it seemed every week they found cancer in a different place in his body.  he coded during a biopsy, and was brought back but it took a while to stabilize him.  he would remember some people and get others confused with people that he hadn't seen in ages.  he's in a better place now, and there is no suffering involved.*

Woot!

For those who didn't know, which was a lot of peoples, I have an apartment now. The cable man came by just a little bit ago, and we have cable and internet! My computer rejoices! haha, well, it's not that exciting, but whatever! I have just a few more things to move, which I hopefully can get to this afternoon/early evening, and if not then, then definitely tomorrow.

Random thought: The carpet is squishy (in a good way). My footsies like it lots!

Hrmmm...

That's all for now! I may post later or something.

Holy guacamole!  It's been over a month since I posted on Xanga!

I've been a very busy Marcy.  Let's see.  I've been keeping up with my homework, which I'm thoroughly enjoying.  I've been involved with the SCA recently, and I'm beginning to work on my own garb (I've only cut my own patterns out as of now.  More time permitting= me cutting out fabric!!!).  I've been hanging out with Trey and friends, which results in lots of fun!  D&D games have started back, and hopefully some DDR sometime soon???  *looks questioningly at her readers who hang out with her*

My efforts to become more organized have somewhat worked.  I just rummage for the appropriate notebooks each day, whether said rummaging occurs in my truck or my bedroom is another story, lol!

I attended my first SCA event this past weekend.  I had so much fun, and got to know Kaitlyn a little better.  She's pretty cool, and I think we've got a good bit in common.  I took almost a whole roll of film while I was there.  I still need to take a few more pictures.  I hope they all turn out.  I'm still trying to get adjusted to this camera.

I will update with more later.  Now, I must journey back to the photo lab and make some more prints.  I like being able to have time to myself by keeping ahead just a little.

Yay! Marcy concocts Christmas goodies!

Dec. 21st, 2006 | 05:06 pm
feeling: happy happy

I'm baking stuff tonight after I babysit for my sister.  My mom's only stipulation is that I clean up any messes I make.  This should prove interesting since I'm making a lot of stuff that requires melting gooey goodness and mixing and such.  Like chocolate and white chocolate and butterscotch.  Yummy!

I get my truck back in 30 minutes, and I'm soooooo happy.  I've missed it so!

For some reason, I think I'm enjoying Christmas more now than ever.  Yeah, hard to believe, cause we were all once kids, but I like the season.  It's when the weather gets cooler, and it's not so humid(usually...*glares at overcastness of clouds and soggy ground*).  It's the season of giving, and it should be an unselfish time.  To me, it's the one time of year that still gives me hope that the general populous isn't as horrible as it seems the rest of the year.  Yeah, I'm naive.  But there are good people out there, and I'm lucky to have a few of them for friends.  Generally though, the good are overlooked, and the bad are publicized to no end.  *sigh* That's another rant though all in it's own, hahaha!

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie

Opening Credits: "All Mixed Up"- 311

Waking Up: "Nobody Home"- Pink Floyd

First Day Of School: "And So I Know"- Stone Temple Pilots

Falling In Love: "Fun For Me"- Moloko

Fight Song: "Ruiner"- NIN

Breaking Up: "Know Your Enemy"- Rage Against The Machine

Life's Ok: "Lake of Fire"- Nirvana

Mental Breakdown: "Aeroplane"- Red Hot Chili Peppers

Driving: "Mista Dobalina"- Del Tha Funkee Homosapien

Flashback: "Can't Catch Me When I'm Dead"- Tom Violence!

Getting Back Together: "Gonna Go My Way"- Lenny Kravitz

Final Battle: "We Didn't Start the Fire"- Billy Joel

Death Scene: "Mothers Talk"- Tears For Fears

Funeral Song: "Wake Up"- Alanis Morissette

End Credits: "Girl Like That"- Matchbox 20

This was pretty funny to do. Dunno if the songs really match, but some do. It was fun and relieved boredom. :)

Ideas anyone?

Oct. 2nd, 2006 | 01:40 pm
location: my room

Ok. Halloween is in 29 days, and I need some ideas. My roomies and I are planning on dressing up that day and when we hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. Problem is, we can't settle on any one idea. So I'm turning to my readers/friends to help out with our dilemma.

Ideas so far (that we like):
Yogi, Boo Boo, & Ranger Smith
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Either of those would be cool, but we want to expand our horizons. Let us know what you think.

That is all for now.

please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers

Sep. 13th, 2006 | 01:40 am
feeling: sad sad

It has been a long day. Cammy's brother is in ICU at UMC in Jackson. Tuesday morning Chris was involved in a serious car wreck on his way to work. He's not conscious yet(he was put into a temporary coma-type sedation for the ambulance ride from Vicksburg to Jackson), but he responded with flinches when asked questions by his mom and dad around 8:30 last night. The situation looked very grim after lunch today, and just before dinner, but the events later made everything so much better. It's gonna be a long road for Cammy and her family, but I have faith that it's all going to work out. All I ask is that everyone keep her family in their thoughts and prayers.

And please people. Having a driver's license means accepting a responsibility, a huge one. Accidents don't just affect you. They affect others as well. So please, slow down, be attentive, and drive safely.

. : semi-off days : .

Aug. 23rd, 2006 | 10:49 pm
feeling: bored bored

So Tuesday/ Thursday looks like this:

1:40pm - 4:20pm: Fiber Design 1

Cool class, even cooler teacher.

Switched my Experimental Cameras class (which would have been from 9:25am - 12:05pm on these days) with Advertising Design, which will be an independent studies-type class. Joe is giving assignments for the semester Friday, and we only meet when we have questions or need critiques. Everything gets turned in at finals.

I'm so tired right now but don't feel like sleeping. So far, I'm almost finished with some homework that's due Monday in the Sci-Fi class, and I'm almost halfway finished with some thumbnail sketches that are due Friday in Graphic Design. I'm working on the procrastination... now just to work on the pessimism.

Aug. 21st, 2006 | 11:22 pm
feeling: nervous nervous

Seven am and I was awake... somewhat. I managed to get to class with 10 minutes to spare. Least I beat Allison up there, hehehe. It's just a miracle that I woke up to make it to class. Those who live with me, or had classes with me, understand just how much of a miracle it is for me to get up on time.

8:00am - 9:50am: Graphic Design

Within the first five minutes, Allison tells us that she will not be getting fatter over the semester, she'll just be getting a big belly due to being pregnant... Yeah, my advisor/teacher (for 4 wonderful straight hours on MWF) is expecting. She said she was four months into the pregnancy and that she will not be teaching during the spring semester. This means we'll have Joe for all our graphic design-type classes instead of both of them for varying ones.

She also gave us homework. Yeah. I wasn't amused.

10:00am - 11:50am: Web Design

We met for a grand total of 5 or 10 minutes. Nothing compared to the 30 or so in Graphic Design prior. Didn't get a homework assignment this time. However, we were told there are books we can purchase to make our learning of Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks easier. Think I'll purchase them off of Amazon.

I met up with all the WoW/ DDR/ Magic/ D&D group in the union for lunch. Many many laughs were had by all. Checked with Ronnie about lifeguarding, and I have to go see the director of financial aid as soon as I get a chance tomorrow. He told me to talk to her and no one else, haha!

3:00pm - 4:50pm: History of Science Fiction Film

Robyn is such a hoot! I think I'm really going to enjoy this class, provided I get enough sleep the night before, hehe. We stayed most of the class time today, but we actually went over the syllabus, then some other things about film. She then played a short film from 1902. Can't remember who it was by... I was trying to stay awake, hehe. Mondays are lecture days for this class, and Wednesdays are screening days. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the semester in this class.

So this was my first day back to class. More to come tomorrow with my other two.

It's 1:30 am, give or take a few minutes, and I'm not asleep! Hopefully Allison won't keep us the whole time in the morning. It's going to take a great force to get me out of bed in a few hours. Least I am looking forward to tomorrow for the hanging out at lunch with the usual group. Hope everyone can make it. Now, I'm off to take a shower, then to crash until my alarm clock goes off.

Why am I so nervous about this semester?

I'm back in Cleveland, and I'm so damn happy. I've missed everyone so much. Classes start Monday bright and early... at 8am, followed by 4 hours of the same teacher in the same room at the same computer. This is something I really don't look forward to, haha.

. : heat : .

Aug. 12th, 2006 | 02:52 pm
feeling: hot hot

This heat is rediculous. I don't see how anyone can pay their light bill. Tomorrow is my last day of work down here at home; however, it'll be a little longer before I get to come back to Cleveland. My truck had a much needed tune up the other day, and my brother was talking with the mechanic afterwards. They go to check the freon in my a/c, and rev the engine to get a better reading (it wouldn't read right for some reason). During this engine rev, something not good happened. A clanking noise was coming from somewhere. Upon further inspection by my brother and the mechanic, it was determined that my distributor(er?) is going out. Mechanic guy is only charging me what is costs him for the part, but damn if it isn't expensive anyway! $350 for a new distributor(er?). Least the problem was found before heading to Cleveland. Would have been a matter of time before my bro would have had to come pick up my truck, and it's a rather boring trip most days.

So yeah, I'll be coming back to Cleveland on Tuesday as of right now.

Going to see Beth now. Her sis is in the hospital about to have her first kid. Sad part- the baby breached, and Katie has preclampsia due to her blood pressure. Baby's about 6 months along, and will be here by c-section within the next 24 hours it looks like. It'll be in ICU anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months. The reason behind calling the baby "Baby" and "It" is because they have no clue what it'll be. She just found out 2 weeks ago that she was pregnant. Her endometriosis caused her to have a full period, and the pregnancy tests she's been taking have been showing 'no baby'. Her husband and her are excited though, but nervous due to the circumstances. She was taken by ambulance to UMC in Jackson Thursday, after going for a prenatal check up and learning her blood pressure was 200/170. While at UMC, they performed a sonogram, only to find out the baby had breached, and it's backside was facing them. Names have been picked out for either sex, so it's just a matter of time.

Will update when more is known.

So I was digging my jewelry box out of my closet when the door came off the tracks. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to solve this problem without climbing into the closet. After successfully placing the door back into the tracks, I realized I had a small dilemma.

Now most closets have room for someone to hide away in, with enough space to move a tiny bit. Mine is like that... except that I have a dresser in my closet so that my room can be a little more, well, roomy. So here I was, trapped behind my folding closet doors and in front of my dresser with no room to squeeze by. I've only been known to be claustraphobic when between two rigs on the road. Now I can add another experience to that feeling. While in panic mode, I hopped onto the dresser and then realized that I could shut the door and escape.

What a goof I am.

Ok. Rescuing Beth (from her parents the other night) was fun... but filling my truck up with gas was not. Fifty-four (54) dollars later my truck is full of fuel and happy, but I'm not. It's beginning to get rediculous. I'll be glad for the trip to Cleveland when I can stay for most of the semester and not have to drive so much. Biking will be good for me too.

Anyway, this full tank is for my trip to Cleveland Sunday. Beth and I are making our way up there so that I can drop stuff off and not have to carry so much when I do finally decide to move back. She'll be checking on transferrable classes Monday or Tuesday. I'll be doing something similar; I'll be seeing why classes I had transferred last summer haven't been posted. Nothing much else really planned for this trip, cept hanging out with friends and such. Trey and I are planning on seeing a movie sometime, just depends on what's playing in the area. Hopefully Clerks II will be around. If not, we'll find something to go see that seems interesting. A Scanner Darkly I've been itching to see, but with my luck, it won't come around the area. Really neat looking though.

Enough of typing. I'm going to sleep now, toodles.
